- Bastet or Bast is an Egyptian goddess, known as the goddess of home, fertility, and childbirth. She was also protector of the pharaoh, cats, women, and children. Portrayed as a lioness in early Egyptian mythology, she later took the form of a domesticated cat in her gentler aspect.
